Yes they do increase metabolism. They're also very good for controlling flue virus etc as they prevent the virus replication.
They are considered to contain myocin an antibiotic compund .that treats bacteria as well. Chilli eaters ( hot) are generally healthy people

If you are talking about chillipeppers(used in chillipowder)
then yes it does.Capsaicin (found in chillipeppers) causes a thermogenesis...which in turn will make your metabolism higher.

They also contain Capsaicin which is a natural pain killer.
