Images on the altar
Or imagined within:
We pray to them,
But do they answer?

The wise tell us how important adoration is, so we kneel before altars. In our meditations, we are taught to see gods within ourselves. This we do with great sincerity, until the masters say that there are no gods, and then we are confused.

The statue on the altar is mere wood and gold leaf, but our need to be reverent is real. The god within may be nothing but visualization, but our need for concentrations is real. The attributes of heaven are utopian conjectures, but the essence of these parables is real. The gods then represent certain philosophies and extraordinary facets of the human mind. When we devote ourselves to gods, we establish communication with these deeper aspects.

The thought that we are worshipping symbolism may make us uncomfortable. We are educated to accept only the tangible, the scientific, and the material. We doubt the efficacy of adoring the merely symbolic., and we are confused when such reverence brings about genuine personal transformation. But worship does affect our feelings and thoughts. When the wise say that there are no gods, they mean that the key to understanding all things is within ourselves.

Kaaba is the Qibla i.e. the direction Muslims face during their prayers. It is important to note that though Muslims face the Kaaba during prayers, they do not worship the Kaaba. Muslims worship and bow to none but Allah.

It is mentioned in Surah Baqarah:

"We see the turning of thy face (for guidance) to the heavens: now shall We turn thee to a Qiblah that shall please thee. Turn then thy face in the direction of the Sacred Mosque: wherever ye are, turn your faces in that direction."
[Al-Qur’an 2:144]

1. Islam believes in fostering unity

For instance, if Muslims want to offer Salaah (Prayer), it is possible that some may wish to face north, while some may wish to face south. In order to unite Muslims in their worship of the One True God, Muslims, wherever they may be, are asked to face in only one direction i.e. towards the Kaaba. If some Muslims live towards the west of the Kaaba they face the east. Similarly if they live towards the east of the Kaaba they face the west.

2. Kaaba is at the Centre of the World Map

The Muslims were the first people to draw the map of the world. They drew the map with the south facing upwards and north downwards. The Kaaba was at the centre. Later, western cartographers drew the map upside down with the north facing upwards and south downwards. Yet, Alhamdullilah the Kaaba is at the centre of the world map.

3. Tawaaf around Kaaba for indicating one God

When the Muslims go to Masjid-e-Haram in Makkah, they perform tawaaf or circumambulation round the Kaaba. This act symbolizes the belief and worship of One God, since, just as every circle has one centre, so also there is only one Allah (swt) worthy of worship.

4. Hadith of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)

Regarding the black stone, hajr-e-aswad, there is a hadith (tradition), attributed to the illustrious companion of the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh), Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).

According to Sahih Bukhari, Volume 2, book of Hajj, chapter 56, H.No. 675. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I know that you are a stone and can neither benefit nor harm. Had I not seen the Prophet (pbuh) touching (and kissing) you, I would never have touched (and kissed) you".

5. People stood on Kaaba and gave the adhaan
At the time of the Prophet, people even stood on the Kaaba and gave the ‘adhaan’ or the call to prayer. One may ask those who allege that Muslims worship the Kaaba; which idol worshipper stands on the idol he worships?

Your style of lack of information is what produces branch and great problems interior the international. you have on no account heard a christian nor a Jew being spoken of by skill of a Muslim as an idol worshipper. The Quran is clean approximately giving those religions and the holy books from them understand and their due. So save busy -- come across a job - upload to strategies - dont make problems the place there are none. I even have studied many faiths historic and present day.

same thing of why jewish bow up and down infront of a wall.

the black rock is the target of which to direct your prayers into, otherwise every muslim will pray any direction without being united. but our prayers is for God only, not the rock.

i donno should i answer u or ignore u...well i'm gonna answer only for people who r intrested to know about it not for u...

it's a black stone which made by our prophet Ibrahim and his son Ismail by a command from GOD as a symbol,
when Muslims pray, they always pray in the direction of it so they can be unit...
about the part that some Muslims kiss, when our prophet Mohamed (Peace be upon him) walked around the Ka'bah, he kissed a part of it, so Muslims are doing the same thing now, they are imitating him....when i was there, i couldnt be able to go and kiss that part cuz it was soooo crowded, so i left :) it's not something obligatory..

so now u tell me, when u converted to be a christian...why do christians kiss the cross, it's just a piece of wood or metal?

when somebody is dead...and you keep kissing his belongings whenever you remember him...it does not mean that you worship him...it just means that you still keep his lovely "picture" in your mind.

Muslims do not worship a stone...people worship God who created the man who built the stone, the cross, the wall.....etc.
