Generally Western, think BBQ, steaks and large sandwiches. But also pies, Italian and seafood. Lots of deep fried foods like Chico Rolls, Fish and Chips etc. In the cities, Vietnamese, Chinese, Greek and Middle Eastern are quite popular.

I hope that helps.

Basically we are meat eaters - beef, lamb, pork, chicken, fish etc and kangaroo meat is also available in the larger stores. We love our sunday roasts with baked vegies and gravy. Being multi cultural we're not afraid to enjoy the cuisines of other countries. My favourite being Thai. BBQ's are popular throughout the country. We are constantly being told we are all overweight, so fresh and healthy food is also on our tables. We eat anything!

vegemite spread for toast
Turkish Bread
caramel slices, lamingtons
bbq kangaroo
pikelets (mini pancakes with no butter in them)
jaffas (chocolate orange candy)
and you can't get seem to get perogies anywhere! I miss them!

i am an american living in australia... it feels like i moved to thailand though - there are 5 thai restaurants for every fish and chips joint...
tons of pie places too... and whatever you can cook on a grill becomes a "barbie" delight.
