Depression presents itself on several levels. Some are merely a "mood" problem, others are a "grief" problem. Still others are more complex and a deeper chemical problem within the mind, something that lasts longer than a few weeks.
Whatever one you are in, though there are a few simple things "to do" to feel a little better in the moment.
Use each of your 5 senses to recognize what is happening in that moment in time (Name a smell, wash your hands in cold water, taste...maybe a lemon, listen to hear a bird sing, identify 5 things by sight, or read a meaningful phrase or poem. Breathe deeply in the fresh air. )
Recognize with your mind that this is TODAY, a new day you have yet to live it is fresh and ready for you.
Talk with other people
Eat, Sleep, Bathe and dress for the day, go outside, and pray.
And, if you haven't seen a DR. about how you feel, this is a good day to make that call. If Rx has been prescribed, TAKE YOUR MEDS. (antidepressants work slowly over time, you can't expect immediate results for the pill you take today)

Exercise - the one you enjoy the most. You can also have Omega 3 Acids. Emotional communication, too. There are some other methods, but they require professional assistance.

I strongly recommend you to read "The Instinct to Heal" by David Servan Schreiber for natural approaches to curing depression, especially the chapter "Love is a biological need".

Today, 22nd January, is officially supposed to be the most depressing day of the year, so if I were you, I'd go to bed now and get the day over and done with!

When you wake up tomorrow try getting some fresh air and sunlight and eat plenty of fresh, healthy food.

Hope this helps :)

Join a local gym. Exercise is good for your mind, body and soul and helps to release all the happy chemicals in your brain.

If your main problem is lonliness, why don't you call your friends and family for a chat every night? You'll feel miles better afterwards.
