i use turmeric in my indian cooking. diluted turmeric water got poured on the kitchen slab which is made of wood here. I tried cleaning it the next day, as i was busy with some work. Stain got seeped into the wood. Today when i tried cleaning with soap & lemon juice and scrub, partly stains are gone but some places it still remains. The kitchen slab here i think is a laminate sheet on wooden surface. there are a couple of scrathes because of using the scrubber we use to wash utensils. Is there some paste i can apply to remove the scratches. Some stains are still visible, can i remove it with something without spoiling the wood further? This is a rented house in USA, so want to clear the stains, so that I am not charged a BOMB when i vacate it. Please advise. I saw a few other postings where hydrogen peroxide was suggested. Would it affect the laminate sheet on the wood. Is there any other remedy, please suggest.

409 cleans out stains from my stuff that others won't or you could try soft scrub, it has alittle bleach in it and a bit of grit but not enough to hurt the wood....those things always work for me so good luck...

Although I've never tired it, I've heard that if you slice a lemon, squeeze the juice onto the wood, and then let the juice - or cut lemon - sit on the counter over night, the stain should be 'bleached' out.

I don't know if this will cause the rest of the wood to be bleached in that area or not. Can you take the slab outside and let it sit in the sun to bleach it out?

Good luck. You might just have to go to the hardware store, buy another piece of laminate and replace it. Sorry :(

You'll need a steam iron and a white dish towel or t-shirt. Set the iron between low and medium and let it heat up. Fold the dish towel or t-shirt a couple of times and place over the stain. Iron the fabric just as if you were ironing it to get wrinkles out. Press the button to release a shot of steam directly over the stain. Remove the fabric and see if the stain is gone. This won't work on a really deep heat stain. Good luck!

try a cream cleanser like jif, or an oxy actionfoam to leave overnight and draw out the stain. try a damp tea towel on the stain with another dry towel on to then hot iron to draw the tumeric out. it will have oils in the wood and the turmeric. good luck

How about something like clothes washing powder and boiling water and rubbing really hard at the stain (my Mum uses it for tea stains in cups and also for burnt bits in the bottom of saucepans) - it might be worth a try...
