500 calories more than you eat is the simple answer. We all need varying calories for our build and lifestyle, but if you cut the calories to less than you need every day to fulfill our lifestyle then you will lose weight;
PS It wont work if you use Kilo joules, as 500Kj is only 119 calories, NOT enough of a drop to lose weight!

Hi,
It really also depends on how tall and how heavy are you now.
Anyway, have you considered losing weight via a detox?
I lost 15kg within 2 mths doing a detox and managed to maintain all the way till childbirth ;)
You can see my before and after pics here:
http://dreamsincredibles.blogspot.com/2005/10/angel-lost-15kg-within-2-months.html
Now, I specialize in helping people lose weight easily and quickly using the detox program i used.
If you do a detox, you will be able to:
- gain better health and
- better vitality and
- even more radiant skin and
- the loss of some excess pounds as well,
All you need to do is three things.
Number one, follow the detox programme which requires you to change your diet a little bit. Eg, take more vege and less meat and seafoods.
Number two, use 1 minute a day to take some natural health foods consumable even by babies and pregnant women that will enhance the speed and the effect of the detox.
Number three, drink lots of water to flush the toxins out.
If you exercise by either running or swimming, it will furthur enhance the results.
And that's it.
The rest is up to you.
So what do you think? ;)

It depends on your weight and height. There is a simple formula
For men:
Add a zero to your weight and then add twice your weight.
For women:
Add a zero to your weight and then add your weight
For ex., if you are waiting 50 KGs, then you will have to burn
500+100 = 600 Calories for men
500+50 = 550 cals for women

burning an extra 500 kilojoules in exercise a day (try a good puffy walk for 40 minutes in the morning) and try to eat 500kj less a day, this might be one less can of soft drink and no cookies at sugar hit time.

Burning 7700 kcal = 1kg...
You can increase your metabolism & consume lesser kcal. I have a weighing machine that can scan my daily metabolism so from there i can calculate how long can i lose a Kg...

"There are 3500 calories per pound of body fat. In order to lose just one pound of stored fat we need to burn off 3500 extra calories."
