You get a $3300 exemption for each child. There is also a $1000 tax credit for each child under age 17 - you only get that if you owe that much in taxes. If you don't, there's something called an Additional Child Tax Credit that you might or might not be eligible for - depends on income, and on number of children.

If you paid for child care so the parents can work, there's a credit for part of that amount, too.

Yes, I think there should be an income tax on each child. That way certain people will think twice about bringing children into this world without relying so heavily on the government.
