Use powdered / icing / castor sugar! Works much better as it is lighterthan normal sugar! Sprinkle the powedered sugar over the popcorm immediatly after popping (when popcorn is still hot). Powered sugar will melt slightly and stick to popcorn.

When you get sugar coated popcorn in a bag it is made by mixing the popcorn with a hot high solids sugar solution - often with some butter added to make a sort of weak caramel. You could try this yourself - add a little water to sugar and butter in a pan and heat it till it melts and dissolves, then pour it on the popcorn (which should be warm as well). However BE CAREFUL because that sugar will give you the most terrible burn if it gets on you A better way might be to mix melted butter and icing sugar to a soft paste and mix that into the warm popcorn, play around with how much, but it will taste great and be a lot safer. You could even add a bit of flavour such as vanilla

I always thought sugar sticks because the popcorn is still hot. I remember microwaving some corn the other day and a put some sugar inside it then popped it back in the microwave. Some of the sugar managed to stick so…yeah…

BEST BAKED CARMEL CORN

Be sure to keep your popcorn warm as you pop it. The best way to do this is in a large roasting pan in a 200 F oven.
8 qts. air popped, pop corn
1 cup Butter
1/2 cup corn syrup
2 cups dark brown sugar
1 teas. salt
1 teas. baking soda
1 teas. vanilla
Melt butter with corn syrup, brown sugar and salt. Boil over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add baking soda and vanilla. Stir until foamy. Pour over warm popcorn. Mix well. Bake at 250 F for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes to coat. Spread brown paper over a large area, pour the baked corn over the paper and allow to cool thoroughly. Store in an airtight container.

ITS BEST TO USE ICING SUGAR,AS THIS IS A LOT LIGHTER THAN NORMAL SUGAR. MAKE SURE YOU PUT IT ON WHEN THE POPCORN IS STILL HOT.
