Aside from sci-fi fantasies & folk tales no one has ever kept a brain 'alive' outside the human body though suposedly a few brains kept in assorted solutions have registed 'activity' for years after their host bodies died. The greatest mystery lies with the theory that 'life' itself, the very spark of existence, the makings of personality & memory, that life is an electrical phenomen and that the brain is merely a mass of organic matter providing a home for this life energy therefore the dificulty is transfering the life energy to another body. Actually if one accepts the idea of reincarnation then yes the mind does live on when the body dies.

Peace..

The answer to that is no. Unless the connection of the main aretries is made as well as some method of oxygenating the blood to the brain the brain will die with 3 -4 mins of being removed from the body. Ice packs have sustained the activity of the brain for longer periods but there has been no way to measure whether the electro conductivity is active though or just the brain firing in a state of shock.
