I have a kity around 2.5 years old.. she is not a very social cat. Does not liked to patted or held very much. Go to pat and will sit for a few seconds then turn and bite and scratch.. then run away. Standard behaviour. She will not sit with anyone, and if people come over she hides under the bed.. for the whole day! Any thoughts on why or if there is anything I can do to avoid. She is treated like a queen and loved very much.

Ella is an inside kitty who was bought from the pet shop the first day they got her so she was very small. Nothing bad has happened since we have had her, and she was fixed a while back. She tends to get a little closer to us when we go away for a few days and leave her at my parents.. then when we return she is nice for a while.

This is a VERY antisocial behaviour for a cat(s) !
Is there a history of abuse, or neglect ?
Was she once a stray, where she had to fend for herself at one time, making her very skiddish & hesident of others.
They say getting a cat "fixed" will make him/her more lovable & affectionate. Especially for males who are real territorial & wanderers. It could be an option for you, it works to calm real furniture scratchers too who are kept inside full time.

i have a cat the same age. she loves me to death when shes hungry.but the minute i feed her she takes off for the day till she gets hungry again. i often wonder is it because shes neutered that shes like that. she was run over by a car when she was 6 months she had major surgery after that and she wont let anybody hold her since that. she only scratches and bites when she plays though, she doesnt bite hard

May be you have spoiled your cat.
May be she is a touch-me not, frustrated cat.
like all cats she is only staying at your place because of all the free food she gets.
You want some animal who is more social and you can actually love? Get a Dog.

try bribing her with food when she's good, and squirt her with a little water when she displays behaviour that you want to discourage (biting, scratching, etc) there are ways to make her social, but it takes time. cats are very scent-oriented animals, so if you're trying to get her used to people, start with one person. for example, get their shirt and let her sniff it until she gets used to it, then slowly get her in the same room with that person, take everything in little steps. be patient though!

Just remember cats and dobs are so diffirent, with a cat you have to earn its trust and love with a dog you just have to pat them and their tails wiggle and they are your best friend for life, but with a cat you have to be patient,it sounds wierd but you have to suck up to them for them to love you in return,I have had 9 cats in the last 20 years and thats what i have discovered.

This isn't normal for a cat.
This is going to sound a little "kooky", but get hold of an animal communicator to "speak" to her and find out what her issues are. It worked for me, so don't knock it 'til you've tried it...

I've had cats all my (long) life, and I can tell you this is not normal. You seem to have a nasty, anti-social cat.
