Darkroom photography = labour intensive and working with equipment and chemicals.
Photoshop = working with a computer to maniulate an image.
Both produce the same end result, which is why Photoshop is called the 'digital darkroom'.

Darkroom is a manual process and using photoshop is digital. Darkroom photography is a thing of the past. You can do all those tedious darkroom stuff in photoshop very quickly and efficiently.

No, it is not cheating. in case you're saying that the photographs are unaltered then that's mendacity. in case you overuse it and gain this unastheticaly that's stupid in case you grow to be addicted to it, it waste time and is ineffective My address photoshop is "with moderation". i take advantage of digital camera uncooked conversion and that i ultimate tilts and attitude and shade and that i sharpen and pull out assessment and circumvent and burn. on occasion i will use an imaginitive rendering on request. maximum severely, there is an exceedingly, very constrained industry for needless to say photoshopped photographs. there is a staggering smaller industry for image retouchers. And smallest yet, there is not any industry for photographers with a sluggish workflow. in case you like what you create as artwork, it is not in any respect cheating.

Just to add to what the other answers say, even those who are sticking with film (and who shall blame them) are tending to have their pictures digitised and manipulating and printing them by computer.
