Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span. Grab two one gallon milk containers, fill them with water. Hold one in each hand. Stand watching a good half hour sitcom. Rock side to side. Sit ups and crunches help as well.

A girlfriend of mine went from a 16 to a 10 in about three months or so. I'd sit on her feet and she'd do sit ups while we watched game shows. You don't have to see the TV to play along.
She'd do more when we watched the news. The news made her angry so she'd do sit ups faster, and not realize it.

Get on an exercise bike and do 8 seconds at a sprint then 12 seconds at normal pace. Repeat this for 20 minuets a day. It will take a little while, but if you want to get rid of them you have to work at it.

Dancing is one of the best exercises for your waist/abs. It is one of the few excercises that moves all of the muscles in that area. Running is also good for that. Good diet is important as well. Walking & light aerobics programs probably won't do enough.
