It is all about making a man sin. I am a born again Christian and have been told by a Christian man that women should wear dresses and not jeans and pants. He said it makes a man sin to see a woman in jeans because it shows all of her curves and body. Well, I had to ask him what he thought men did to women when men wear those wrangler jeans and cowboy boots, also when you see men wearing pants that show everything. I told him that if we were to get really to the point, that in the Biblical days, men wore robes and women wore long dresses. I told him that I bet not one Christian man would agree to this dress code today.
In the Bible it says for women to dress modest. There is nothing wrong with t-shirts as long as there is no satanic symbols on them. That is if you are Christian. Shorts are ok too as long as they are not so short that everything is hanging out. It also says in the Bible that if your right eye makes you sin, then pluck it out.

For fundamentalist Muslim women, yes. I also think some Mormons have a bee in their bonnet about traditional clothing.
Why do some people believe this? To put it as succulently as possible, they're *********. Frequently hypocritical to boot. They are trying to make women's bodies into mysterious objects that are all the more special when they download "girls gone wild" off the net.

Because they are too concerned with the problems of the body and not concerned enough with the problems of the spirit.
If you are talking about certain religious communities (like the Amish), it has to do with ideas of modesty. Whether or not they are actually upholding 'tradition' in doing so remains to be seen.

It has to do with modesty. the bible teaches us to be modest, showing off your body has alot to do with modisty.
this also is the same for all these preachers that have more gold than a ring shop, a car more expensive than everything i own, and so on. the bible even says to not lift up yourself with gold and silver. i forget exactly how its said.

They lust more than others, and don't want to be caught lusting in public so they say it is a sin to wear such clothes, but actually they like to lust over others more than anyone else. Mostly they are the opnes without morals, also.

Well if you're talking about religious Catholics and Christians and such, they obviously didn't take the Bible word for word. It does say in Genesis that people USED to be naked.
