Microwave popcorn often has LOADS of harmful and unhealthy ingredients to make it pop properly and taste good.

Using a popcorn maker and only adding the ingredients you want will be a MUCH healthier decision. You can add EXTRA virgin olive oil (which is best) and corn kernels when you pop, and add pure butter (or other healthy "butter-like" spreads for health) and salt. You decide what you want on your popcorn and it tastes phenomenal.

You don't have to clean a popcorn maker every time you use it. Once every three to five times you use it is fine. You can just shake the crumbs out every time - no need to scrub.

Be healthy AND have GREAT popcorn! : )

If it'll make you a more spiritual person, then by all means go for it! I prefer to nuke mine, and just add a half-cup of butter and a tablespoon of salt, and bingo! Tastes just fine to me! A popcorn maker would be okay if I could also warm my coffee in it. Unfortunately, popping corn is about the only thing it can be used for. You can't dry your socks in it, like a microwave, or much of anything else. If you eat popcorn three times a day, it may pay for itself.

I must confess I do have a popcorn maker. One of the stand-up traditional looking movie theater ones. While the popcorn does come out much better the cleanup is not worth the hassle unless you're really craving good popcorn.

The best tasting popcorn is the kind you pop in a pot with oil, the old-fashioned way. You have to cover the pot, though, and keep shaking it... but that makes the BEST tasting popcorn.

It's less salty.

Also there is a "flavor" with microwave. It's not as bad as with "diet" sodas, but it's along the same lines. Not as "bad" as chorlinated water compared to bottle water, but you can taste the "metalic" taste of "microwaves" in your popcorn.

Don't be suprised to find out in 100 years it causes cancer or infertility.

Something is definatley different about it.

Even the under $20 air poppers are good... I saw one at Kohl's recently.

If you can afford it and want it then do it.

ever think about building one?
all it really is, i think, is basically a pot of hot oil with corn in it. shoot, might be able to do it with a pot on the stove.

hmm, im courious.
