I had trouble getting my 5 year old to do homework when he started school.4?? you've got buckly's!!! It's way too early to expect any sort of homework.Reading a book to him at bedtime, pointing out and naming pictures is enough and for fun,not for schooling.

WHY DOES A 4 YEAR OLD HAVE HOMEWORK?

There is no reason for him to be expected to do homework at his age. I have no idea the type schooling he is in but I do know that the expectations are wrong. I do know children, as a Child Development Specialist, this truely bothers me. A four year's only homework should be spending quality time with family. Playing with toys, developing a sense of self, developing an imagination and learning new skills through these activities. He is resisting for a reason, the expectations are beyond his abilties. Talk to the teacher, school district or program for which he is enrolled. Ask how their curriculm was developed, and what developmental milestones they are expecting him to acheive.

Did you really mean your 4 year old son? 4 year olds shouldn't have homework, studies or 9:00 bedtimes, so I'm going to assume that was a typo!

A four year old has no business having homework. I don't know what kind of a program you have him in but it is wrong. He is way too young to have that sort of responsibility.
This question is probably a joke.........
