I don't think of God as a "Big Daddy in the Sky". God is a Power. I refer to God as It. Not he - not she. So many people think that God is in the form of a man - or maybe a huge man or something. It's not human at all. I know the bible says "In his own image" - but - well - I don't believe ALL of the Bible. And what I think that means is... God is loving - so we are loving. God is peaceful - so we are peaceful - etc. You know - we have all of the God qualities in us - and they are ours to use.

No a carpenter doesn't look like a chair. And we don't look like God - but we are in It's image. Just not it's "visual" image.

But a carpenter does not create a chair in his own image. If God looked like the Spaghetti God then men would have long spaghetti arms and legs and many more than two. With eyes like two meet balls. God created man in his own image. BB, Boop Opp A Doop!

a carpenter has certain qualities and abilities as would be obvious in any thing he made ,
an artist who works in flesh of humans would put all his skill into the best work
we as humans thus reflect the highest craft that most closly reflercts that which god does embody,
would that the chair could speak ,think make other chairs ,and do the miriad of things embodied in the amasing deeds man reflects ,is yet but a pale reflection of the master carpenter/potter that made us.

Faith and logic are on the opposite end of the spectrum. As different as black and white. and a carpenter does not create the chair, he just moves and cuts the wood that is already in existence.

Well, if the carpenter created the chair "in his image", as biblical text says God created humans, then yes. The chair would be crafted to resemble him.

Thinking of God as a man/ woman shows the limits of man's imagination. It is obviously hard to imagine the vastness of this universe - and the God that is part of it all.

So, religious books and its propagators told men that look, God looks like you, it is a he or a she, and is sitting up there to punish you whenever you do wrong. Hello? If that was true, doesn't God have any other work??

God is within us- we are all parts of a larger God, and the more we get in touch with our inner selves, the more we will realise it to be true.

God is a spirit he is not limited to any shape.
He is above to be limited.
God is Almighty .
God with all his power and glory, he has chosen to create us (human). He created us on his image. we can think we r not animals, we can chose, we can feel, speak, love, and all what God put inside us. to reflect his own image.
if u believe in God u will know that the nature around us, the planet, sky, moon, sun, animals, bird and everything show us how awesome and great God is.
So then, what about human being?

I am a Hindu and we understand not just there is one god but ONLY GOD.

GOD is the substratum of all beings. He permeates the entire creation and non-creation. This being so, we can immediately conclude that he is without a form.

Gold as gold does not have a form, but when the bangle is made out of gold, does gold cease to exist. Is it not gold in form.
God is in each and every form. So Hinduism accepts worship of God in multiple forms.

It is not like carpenter looking like a chair, but like a dreamer and his relationship to the dream world.

A dream world is created by the dreamer's formless mind flow. But the forms of the dream world is nothing but the dreamer's mind. Forms are manifest. Each form is nothing but the dreamer only without any modifications.

So is the relationship of God and the names and forms according to our religion.

Have you read in the Bible that God created Man is His own image??

Genesis 1:27 (New International Version)

27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
