Among mankind there are various levels of understandings.
Some people believe stones, trees, ghosts. Other people believe all sorts of imaginary figures, genies, gods. Others still believe other human beings as gods...
While the belief in the One True God requires human beings to use our rational sense at the utmost. We must read the Holy Books, meditate, consult various branches of learnings, practice the high ideals...until when we are clear about the true purpose of religion and make progress physically, intellectually and spiritually in our lives and in our communities. We are secure when we consciously realize that we are working actively for the benefit of all mankind who are the beloved children of God..

Hinduism says "God alone is". The entire world of names and forms are manifestations of that God as a dream world manifest from a dreamer.

Worship of God, is to merge with the real source. Krishna explains in Bhagawat Gita Chapter 12 what worship or devotion is.

Our problems are because of our thoughts. We are happy when asleep. We say "I slept happily". How do we say that. You cannot say I was not aware. We cannot say that we love to sleep, unless we have the experience. From that happy state, what has happened to become disturbed, confused, doubtful and stressful in our waking state. Is it not just the thoughts.

To be short, the source of all problems is because of I and mine.
That is why Krishna says "Nirmamo nirahamkara yo math bhakta sa me priya". One who has relinquished ego and does not claim as mine, he is my dear devotee.

There is also a misunderstanding that begging is worship. Krisha has detailed the qualities of a bhakta in Chapter 12 of Gita. There is a download the installation version of this book with English translation and commentary. If this can help you, you can have it.

When one worships God this way, he does not have any problems at all. He completely surrenders. His individuality does not exist. Everything is God's (including himself) and every event is God sent gift (Prasaada). In such a total surrender there is no reservation, no doership (kartrtva bhava) and so no failures, no pain.

Such is the greatness of devotion. It is not a pessimistic approach. It is a perfect and mature state of surrender to God.

Ramana Maharshi says There are two ways but the Goal is one. Either enquire "WHO AM I" and identify your real nature by getting rid of the false ego or surrender totally in devotion to the Self (God) and remove the doership, thereby removing the false ego within.

Those worshipping the God will be protected by God on all occassions. This does not mean that he/she will be secure against violence, disasters etc. There may be trials and tribulations. He/she should be stead fast in his/her faith in God on such occassions and pray to God only. If he/she is stead fast, God will bestow him/her the will power to tide over the trials and tribulations. When one achieves will power by the Grace of God, he/she will be secure by worshipping to God.

You can not be secure by merely worshipping God. You will have to completely surrender yourself to Him, then He will make you secure.
