Im 16, and for some reason, I like picking my scabs. I honestly dont know what I get plesure from ripping a little crusty piece of it off, it doesnt hurt much, and I know Im not a masochist... Well My question is how long does it take for a cut to get a scab over it? I plan on letting it heal now.

Everbody picks scabs... human nature i guess I know i do it anyhow.
Scabs start to form almost straight away in one form or another, it's an extension of the clotting process. A good crusty scab will take quite a few hours tho.... normally appearing overnight. Beware tho - repeated picking could end in infection of the cut, so keep it clean and stop picking!!!

It might take around 8-12 hours to form a scab completely and this scab which actually protects the wound from further infection will last for almost a week before it falls off naturally.

What you should notice if you can skip picking a scab is the difference in your scars. Picked scabs scar more than unpicked. Unpicked, untreated scabs are more likely to scar than unpicked scabs treated with neosporin.
