I had my Gall bladder removed 3 weeks ago by Laporoscipy (?spelling) and still have a lot of pain at the site where I had a drainage tube inserted. Have others had similar pain and how long has it lasted?

I had mine taken out about 2 years ago.. It takes awhile for the pain to ease. You don't move very fast for awhile. My top scar was sore for probably 3-4 months.. because the stitches took so long to dissolve.. and sometimes even now if my shirt rubs on it, it gets really sore. If your pain doesn't ease within the next week or so then I would definitely make yourself a doctors appointment, (With the same surgeon who took your gallbladder out).

Hope you start to feel better.

I have a close relative that had his gall bladder removed and had the drainage tube etc. also.

He experience pain for about 3-4 months after which the incision sites (he had 4 or 5) continued to be tender to the touch for the first year.

He asked his doctor about the pain, as you can and should, and the doctor told him that these pains were the nerves reacting to the incision and also the wound trying to heal. After all, even though it is a laporoscopy, it is still a surgery that has been invasive to the body.

I would definitely talk to your doctor or his/her nurse tomorrow about these pains to get some clarity on them and to let he or she know how you are doing.

Pain is relative, but 3 weeks seems a little on the long side. You should call your doctor to have the wound looked at. It can be checked for any possbile redness, swelling, or drainage. I'd guess the surgeon would fit you in for a quick look without charging for a office visit.

I think it's pretty normal to have a little pain or tenderness around the area that was operated on, whether it was your gull bladder or your somewhere else.

Maybe your Dr. can prescribe some pain killers.

Yes. Mine was the same way. I was in bed for 2 weeks after my removal. I think it was at least 4 weeks, and I was on pain meds the whole time. I was taking Vicodin, but the doctor offered to give me something stronger. You could probably request new pain meds.
