Hello all.. I am considering joining the army and am interested in 33W as a MOS. I read from some other answers here that entering the army through OCS instead of through the enlisted soldier route means that you will get assigned as the army needs you, and you will not get to pick your MOS no matter what your scores are, or how you rank during OCS. I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and I really want to avoid being placed in a job that wont make use of this. Can anyone please confirm this or offer advice? Thank you.

I don't know what a 33W MOS is,assuming it is math related. If you join, you can pick your field.I'm assuming you're correct on the OCS thing.

If you enter the Army as an enlisted soldier, you will pick the job that you want to do (provided it's available and you qualify). This job will be guaranteed to you in a written contract.

If you go the OCS route, then the Army will take into consideration what your degree is in, and then place you. You have your choices, but as a officer you are not expected to work, just supervise; therefore, the needs of the Army take precedent.

Do yourself a favor, and look at a variety of jobs. Don't lock your mind on one. There are a lot of jobs in the Army that you might enjoy.

Thanks for thinking of us, and good luck

I have seen a military member enlist with a 4 year degree in accounting, and he was assigned to Motor Transport (open contract Marine). The Military puts you where they need you, unless you line up a MOS before hand. I am not sure about OCS, but if you can't pick before hand, then yep, you go where they send you.

fort Huachuca is a huge place to bypass. I went there to take HALO college in 1988, additionally it incredibly is the homestead for the protection stress intelligence college. If i'm no longer flawed a 33W is a protection stress intelligence conflict device repairer. good success, shop your nostril clean and once you get out, you will have the international at your ft. I even have over 18 years as a Ranger and M1 Abrams Tank Commander under my belt. i could besides stick to it until eventually i'm 60, because of the fact there are not many roles available that require blowing issues up.

In order to be a 33, you have to enlist for five years minimum. They also don't promote too quick for some reason; point cut-offs are always high.
