The bible tells the time between Abraham getting the Promised Land covenant, and the heirs being there.
The bible tells the time between Exodus of Moses and Samuel, and death of Moses until
the temple is begun.
To me it does add understanding and the time that I search for and need, any one else?

History and the bible go hand-in-hand when you are studying. You can always check to see what was happening during the time an event happened to what was happening that same time in history. Makes studying really interesting.

Historically, archaeologists have found many accuracies in the time line of the Bible. They know that the Jews were slaves in Egypt that were used to build the Pyramids. There is a lot of consistencies in astronomy also recorded by other nation's astronomers of certain events and times. There is much evidence but people choose to ignore the obvious.

I've got another view. We all lead different lifestyles & many of these lifestyles already existed when we were born. We merely followed it. I think the bible was written by someone many many many years ago that discovered a quality lifestyle what is today known as Religion. This person then put this down in black and white so that the generations that followed could learn from it & carry it forward as we see it today. It's almost like Einstein who learnt physics & decided to write it down for the rest of the scientists of his time and further to study it. Students today in schools & Varsities learn the same things he discovered years ago. Like I said, it was maybe not just one person but many different people contributing via manuscripts & stone tablets & whatever else, just like different scientists are contributing to science even up to today!

Certainly helps if you have a time frame of the biblical events. You can get some idea as to the culture, the previous events and what may have been going on in he world, who ruled and their relation to other peoples surrounding them.

Yes, we dont read anything else out of its timeline context. We should not only know the order and time, but the times! Like what 3000BC was like to get a real good understanding of words or examples being used.

Of course - studying the Bible should go hand in hand with learning the history of the era.
