if they can, they generally have a small MP3 logo on the front of it somewhere.

Yes, as long as the manufacturer has paid the license fees and has properly advertised that feature.

MP3 is a format now common and available on most over the counter audio components. Just look for the logo. Without the MP3 logo, it shouldn't play them.

check the manual for the cd player it will tell you [ mp3 wave etc.]
