nope.
Whoever was that process server probably needs to be taken out back and shot. Anything that will imperil a person's jeopardy requires strict scrutiny when serving them. In other words, you can't do that old trick about leaving it on the steps or the stoop or where ever. He has to be personally served, a copy shoved into his hands with another witness. Note: this is different from civil judgments, where a default order can be obtained even with these type of shady tactics. If this kid does get arrested, the lawyer's going to have a field day with this one.

When they do find him he will be arrested and forced to appear in court. You did the right thing by going to his 'last known address'. Basically, you are going to have to find him - the courts arent so good at it. Trust me, they cant seem to get the deadbeat parents to pay even when they know where the dad is. Good Luck. My exhusband owes so much back support for his three kids to me. And he lives 15 minutes from me - and he has only been arrested once - incidentally, that was the ONLY time I ever r eceived child support. To keep from getting resentful, you need to make up your mind you are going to have to do it alone. If you do eventually get the support, consider it a bonus. He will have to answer for not appearing, though. Good luck, you CAN do it!
