I've noticed that my 3yr old daughter has a bluish tinge in the whites of her eyes. Can anyone tell me what this is a sign of? Is it an iron deficiency?

it is not an iron deficiency. It may be normal or a sign of something else. Underneath the sclera or white part of the eye is the choriod which has a bluish tinge. If there entire sclera is blue that is something to get checked out. If the blue is near her irises then this is normal

I don't know exactly. But I live where everyone else has black or dark brown eyes. And I have observed that people who have a blue tinge on the boarders of their iris have poor vision. And I can usually tell the sharpness of a persons vision by the blue tinge on the edge of the iris. (I got extremely sharp vision, the blue tinge is visible to most people only if vision is extremely poor). I'm not sure if the same applies to blue/green/gray eyed people. I don't think I've seen the blue tinge on people with light brown eyes.

Of course, if the blue tinge is seen on the main white of eye and not just on the boarders of the iris, then ignore my answer.

No problem and very common- if she was pale, had pale gums- or pale conjunctiva-was tired- then I would worry about anemia-D
