College - 4 years
Medical School - 4 years
Surgery residency - 5 years or more depending upon whether you do subspecialty training (such as to become a heart surgeon, or a brain surgeon, etc.)
There is a brochure for medical students at:

It will take 12 years of grade school, 4 years of medical school. Then you are going to enter an internship program in surgery which can be 3 or 4 years. After that you can take a fellowship program (circa 2 years) if you want to be a specialist.

i assume you are from the US..
1. premed will be like 4-5 years depending on the course you will take..
2. med school will be another 4 years..
3. you have 1 year of internship
4. the other 6 years as resident
that's already 15 years.. plus!! if you still want to go to specialty surgery, that's another 1 year depending on the subspec..

THIS DOES DEPEND ON THE SORT OF SURGERY TO BE DONE. THE KEY IS TO GET INTO MED SCHOOL.
USUALLY THIS IS 4 YEARS OF UNDERGRADUATE, FOLLOWED BY 4 YEARS OF MED SCHOOL, FOLLOWED BY 3--4 YEARS OF RESIDENCY. FURTHER TRAINING SUCH AS NEUROSURGERY EVEN REQUIRE LONGER TRAINING AND MORE YEARS OF STUDY.
YOU HAVE TO REALLY WANT AND LOVE THE FIELD TO SUCCEED. GOOD LUCK!
