How long should you date someone before you are exclusive? I usually date just one person and see how it goes. But I know other people prefer to date around and then decide to be exclusive after having gotten to know the person for a while. I am 31.

It is all a matter of if you feel comfortable with just that one person. If you want to date that one person and see how it goes, I would wait at least a month or maybe two. It also depends on that person you are dating. If you want to date more than one person, so that way you would have a little variety, then the same applies, I would think because it's up to you. Your age really has nothing to do with it. There is no right or wrong way to go about it. Just make sure it is what the two of you want!

My mother was dating five or six guys when she met my dad. Within a week, she told the other guys that she had found someone she was interested in pursuing a relationship with.

As long as it takes to be comfortable.

In the past when I was single I dated around untill I had sex. If I chose one to have sex with then I'd dump the other guy or guys. I wouldn't sleep around.

When she suggests it...not until. That doesn't mean I wouldn't have been already, but until the pronouncement has been made, I never assume that we are. That's the basis of all misunderstandings in relationships: assumption! Ask anything, assume nothing...

It depends on how you feel about that person.
Feelings don't have a timeline.
