Chihuahuas.

Chihuahuas generally should be bred with other chihuahuas. That being said, I have two dogs that are mixed breed. They are half chihuahua and half dachshund (chiweenies). I've heard from many people that chihuahuas should not be bred if they are very small because of risk of losing the dam. I've also heard that you can breed a chihuahua female with pretty much any other dog as long as the female is the larger of the two. But even then, you run a risk.

You shouldn't consider breeding a dog unless you are will to keep all the dogs produced. If you wish to become a reputable breeder you need to be willing register the litter with the AKC. You should also have a keen understanding of the breed standard. I suggest you participate or at a minimum attend a few dogs shows and get a good picture of your breeds ideal. You should be willing to provide a health guarantee and have pups checked for common health problems before you sell them. Don't be a back yard breeder. If you want to breed dogs take it serious. Chihuahua's should be bread with other chihuahuas plain and simple.

Any dog can breed with any other dog, genetically speaking. Obviously since a chihuahua is so small, a female chihuahua should not be bred with a large dog.

another chihuahua. but only if you have researched the lines of both dogs to be bred. and if both dogs conform to breed standard, and have been health and temperment tested. no more than one litter a year after 2 years of age. and no litters past the age of 5-6 years. and only if you research the buyers of the puppies, and know where the puppies are going and all about them? have the funds available in case of c-section. vaccinate, deworm and have the pups vet checked. and if you are indeed doing all of this right, you will make no money. this will be the only thing that will seperate you from a back yard breeder. if you can't then have your dog spayed.
