Women in the military in the not so long ago past? It is foul and hard to believe but that is the nature of the beast in our species, but my question is with over 200,000 women in the military today, is it getting better? There is some corruption in everything and the pressure is so high that the stress build up has to be enormous especially in wartime? Please express your feelings of women in the military today and feel free to speak? We all need to know the truth, in order to improve our thoughts about it as well.

How men have become animals? Read any primary sources about how men felt about women in the Roman Army, the middle ages, the time of the French and American revolutions, and you'll realize that things have changed incredibly for the better.

I was in the first class with women at the US Military Academy at West Point, so I am very, very aware of the issues regarding women in the military. It was in my face every day for four years. During that time I met a lot of women who were more than able to meet every challenge thrown at them. I came to rely on some very capable women, including a few who were bigger and stronger than I was. I remember one night, about 2 a.m., on patrol, when I was very, very glad to have a woman offer to carry the machine gun I'd been humping for about 7 hours. She was a pretty strong gal...

So I know some women who could of handle the mental and physical challenges of combat. I'm very proud of my female classmates, and would have no problem trusting my back in a foxhole next to them. That said, I recognize two facts about women in the military that a lot of feminists overlook or deny:

- On the average, women are mentally and physically different from men. An average man is a better warrior than an average woman. An average woman is much, much better at caring and nuturing (e.g. nursing and child rearing) that the average man. Those are the averages, and I don't want to deny a military career to any woman WHO IS FULLY CAPABLE. But do not lower Army standards just to accomodate an 'average' woman.

- There will always be physical and emotional attraction between men and women. Put a bunch of guys and gals together in the intimate, familial, intense organization of an elite military unit, and you will have sexual tension, rivalries, and relationships - all of which will detract from the focus of winning in combat. Which is bad, very bad, on the battlefield. So I'm in favor of keeping women out of combat units, unless you form all-female units. That sounds like discrimination, but maybe some discrimination is okay if it means saving lives and winning wars.

Hope this was helpful. Don't mean to sound like a bigot; I hope I answered your question clearly.

I served in the military as a female and this mindset is of a typical, male officer. Fact: Men do not respect women no matter what they say.

The General s Daughter was sad, as a female that could out perform men physically and mentally, I felt a connection with the character. I think the movie hit the nail on the head, men do not have the mental capacity to deal with women who are stronger. They resort to trying to demean women, telling them they aren t good enough, aren t strong enough, and the officer s answer up there "women are better nurturers."

The thing worse than rape being betrayal is true. I bought into the Army bullshit brothers and sisters, and it will never, ever be that way. Men will always turn on women. Men do not have loyalty to women, and they will always look down on them, and they will never consider them an equal. No matter how much stronger they are than them. It s part of how they are wired. Men will always have to take that power from women, they are very primitive. After serving, I will never look at men the same. Their loyalty is to what is between their legs and what others think of them that have things hanging between their legs. If you re a woman, wise up, men will never truly respect you.

The Daughter in the movie was hot.In alot of military trades women do a better job than a man.In others the men outperform......it will be trial and error for a few more years.
