You pit has lots of energy he's a puppy. If he's constantly chewing it's because he likely has lots of energy and no specific place in which to channel it. First of all throw out that idea of lots of chew toys. I recommend that you find one durable chew toy. Kongs are great and practically indestuctable. Next burn off a lot of the energy. Playing fetch or taking your dog for a jog are great examples. Tug of war can be a great tool for teaching obedience. Don't use a sock unless you want him/her to think chewing up your socks is ok. One of the best methods for training your dog that I've seen its Ivan Balabanov's method. Get his video and put it to work. Aggression is an instinct but it's also learned behavior. Curb the behavior every time it pops up.

we just rescued a pitt/mix, about 10 months old and he had the same behavior. i researched it on the web and something interesting i found was that pitt bulls will begin to express aggressive behavior from 6 mo till about 2 yrs old. this is due to hormones (get that dog neutered!!) and boredom. we play with our dog at least 30 minutes a day and walk him for 30-60 minutes twice daily. on nice days he's left outside to play with our other dogs and chase squirrels. right now your pup is just expressing his puppiness. he also might be teething. try this- take an old but clean washcloth, wet it and tie it in a knot. put it in the freezer and once it's solid, give it to him. they love it. it's a cheap, easy toy. be careful about them eating it completely though. don't let him get away with "hand nibbling" either. if you're playing and he starts knawing on you, tell him no, and put him in his kennel. (kinda for a "time-out"). eventually he'll get that behavior like that won't get him what he wants.

pitts can be very sweet dogs if given the right environment and training. you seem like you're well on your way to having a great dog. good luck.

Pitts will react to how YOU raise them. Be loving and give him plenty of chew toys. I have a 4 mo. old now. Take him for walks and give him lots of loving attention. Get into a training class with him.

he's being a puppy. enroll him in an obedience class. use a squirt bottle at the butt. say NO in a firm voice. never hit.
