It must have something to do with the fact that when we hear the words "Paris Hilton" we can say "Why the F do I know who that is?"

No, I think our educational system has gone to hello. When
I was growing up everybody wanted to be Einstein. The brighter a person was the more we venerated them. Today they venerate rappers and drug addicted football and basketball players. Hey tonight I found out that Moses wrote the Bible, that our country was founded upon the ten commandments, that humankind evolved from monkeys, and that morality started with Christ. I learned all that right here on Y!A! But of course the most important thing to know is that Lohan is in rehab!

I think it may be the company you keep. Most people I know are both religious and aware of world news. I think many religious people are very concerned with what is going on in different parts of the world & reach out to help very much. I think the issue is that American's get a bad rap.

The ignorance of Americans about what is really going on in the world is due to the multi-national antichrist banker stronghold on the media. Only those Christian pastors who make it a priority to keep the people that they pastor informed truly know what is going on because these are the days of the fulfillment of the prophesied return of Jesus Christ and world events are signs of his return.

I think that ignorance of world news is due to a problem of time. Many are just too busy to watch the news or read a newspaper.

Nope. It's because a lot of Americans are self-centered and don't care what's going on if it doesn't directly affect their little world. Sad, but true. Having said that, I will defend my fellow Americans because we are the most generous, giving people and most of us are really very nice once you get to know us.

Maybe. Depends if they're Fundamentalist Christians or not. If they are, then it doesn't matter if they're informed of the world news or not, they'll spout garbage against whatever's happening. Unless, of course, it involves forced conversion to Christianity for all.

I don't believe so. There are just so many things that preoccupy our time that prevent us from paying attention to the things that should matter.
