That sounds pretty harsh to me. I'm by no means fat or never have been, but I can look on people that are with sympathy, because you never know the reason behind why they are fat or why they keep letting it go.
Some people have thyroid problems to where they can't help gaining weight, and hello, they have to eat to survive!
Some are depressed and use food to fill maybe a void in their life.
Who knows. I don't guess it matters to anyone. If they can live with how they are, then why would it matter to you?

Many people who have weight problems have them because they live with a lot of long-term stress or unhappiness, and it causes their cortisol levels to be high, which, in turn, makes them hungrier than they would otherwise be.
People with weight problems also often have blood sugar instabilities that make them hungry. Some people have Type II diabetes, which makes them fiercely hungry shortly after eating carbohydrates because the insulin doesn't "work right" for them.
Not long ago on 20/20 it was said that belly fat "has a life of its own" because it actually secretes certain substances, which affect the person in a number of ways.
Most people I have ever known with a weight problem are extremely distressed over their weight; but if they are so stressed out that if they don't eat some carbohydrates or fat they will barely be able to function (because the stressed out person's body is thrown off by stress hormones that make a person NEED to eat to function) they usually eat in order to function.
In fact, many people with weight problems are the people who do a lot for other people and take care of many different things, including jobs and homes and family members, etc.; and they are not people who will - if stress makes them so exhausted they feel they can't function without carbohydrates - go lay on a couch and let all the responsbilities go.

This should be in diet and exercise. But anyway, sometimes, one is hungry. Being fat can come from an eating disorder where one is always hungry or just THINK that they are hungry. If there wasn't a problem with the eating and exercise habits, then the person wouldn't be fat in the first place. Also, one might chose the wrong foods to satisfy the hunger. So stop being insensitive about it! Just kidding. Say what you want, but I'll ignore you and eat my twix bar. It's 9:30 PM and im still hungry.

Uhhh... well surely they see they are fat. Some can't help it and some can. Maybe they made poor choices (like all of us have) that they regret and it is just a habit or way of life they can't break.
Ask a drug addict why he keeps using drugs, when it is destroying his life.
Ask a Cigeratter smoker why she keeps smoking when it is killing her and those around her.
Ask someone who is driving 90mph in a 55mph speed zone. I mean they know there is an ADDED danger and it is a risk not only to their lives but to the lives of others as well.

Why would you ask such a stupid question? Fat people don't want to be fat. They just put on weight easier than other people and most of them don't just sit around eating all day either. A weight problem is something you strugle with all your life because when you do loose weight it is very easy to put it back on.

True. I feel for people who have medical problem and could gain weight by eating celery but I have seen allot of fat people going through the fast food drive thru's and etc.. They need to get a grip on it and get a healthy lifestyle going or at least drive bigger cars.

It could be genetics, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, their upbringing, the list goes on and on. As someone said, it's not as simple as someone looking into the mirror and saying " Well look at me! I'm overweight, perhaps I'll just stop eating..how easy!"
In America it's particurally difficult, food ( and larger porportions of it) are literally stuffed down our throats daily. Food is associated with positive social interactions.
You could very easily ask the question
"Why don't aneroxics look at themselves and stop dieting, can't they see they're skin and bones?"
Just not that easy my friend.

Probably they do not care about their looks, all they care about is the feeling of hunger as they have larger stomach than the thin people. Most of them do try to loose weight but unfortunately they simply dont know how.
There was a recent survery in school, the question was
"would you rather be fat and rich or would you rather be poor and thin? Majority of the answers were the children are rather be poor but thin

I just saw this thing about morbid obesity on TV and apparently it's a mental disorder. I would think it is similar to OCD only with food.
