I disagree with all the other comments. I also loved the TLH. I will probably begin unschooling soon (with luck)! Most of the other books I'm reading about this stuff are ones that Grace recommended or mentioned in TLH. Real Lives is GREAT (she edited it) and I'm also reading The Question is College, a bunch of John Holt books, and some other ones that Grace suggested. Start with the appendicies... there's one that lists a bunch of good books. I hope your search goes well!

Since no one else has mentioned this, I have to make this correction. The Teenage Liberation Handbook does NOT advocate "dropping out of high school", but unschooling high school. "Dropping out" implies the end of learning. "Unschooling" is a form of homeschooling where the student directs the learning - it is not the lack of learning.
I don't currently use the unschooling method, however, many homeschoolers, as their children age, allow them to have some freedom in what they study. Also, I know many people (especially on Y!A) who would be very upset at the notion that they "dropped out" because they have chosen unschooling.

Have you tried other books by the same author?
Real Lives: Eleven Teenagers Who Don't Go to School Tell Their Own Stories
Guerrilla Learning: How to Give Your Kids a Real Education With or Without School
And there's got to be something supporting it in John Taylor Gatto's work or in John Holt's work. Also, anything on unschooling.

Look I dropped out of High School and all I have to say is this ...
"Formal education will make you a LIVING; Self-education will make you a FORTUNE."
And it's true! I've learned more in the real world and on the computer then I ever did in a classroom and ever will.
However, having a diploma or GED is important in getting a good job. But you can make it out there without going to High school, I honestly believe High school should start teaching things about the real world instead of perimeter. We don't use half of it in our life after high school and those who do, go to college for it. So if your going to use ____fill in the blank____ then go to college for it. Plus the education systems have gone down the drain these days. Ya know it just makes me so mad. Because 1/2 of it is useless it's just more money for our government.
What do you mean dropping out of HS books? You can just drop out, I don't imagine there being books for this. You don't need any.
Going to High school does NOT grant you a real education, because it does not educate you on what life is all about. Like religion it's just another big business.

I am a loan officer. If you are considering dropping out of high school consider this:
The people who've dropped out of high school make on average $20,000 or less a year. You can't survive on this kind of money. I know because as a loan officer I see it every day.
Don't drop out. Give yourself a chance and at least finish high school. If you really want a decent life you'll go to college too.

no decent book would support this action, because it will indeed haunt you forever. Stick it out until grad, than go out and see what you can make of your life.

There are no books for being a bad person. Most self help books are about making you a better person not making you a lowlife.
