Kill him where he stands.

I'm sure this poses a moral dilemma for a great deal of people. My brother recently returned from a 1 year tour in Iraq. After a short time he basically resented all of them. He was disgusted by them. He would shoot the kid, afterall, kill or be killed. I will say that even for those that would shoot the kid, there is likely to be remorse and anxiety afterwards. It's a good question though, because most people don't consider the emotional ramifications of this type of situation. I feel for those men and women who must deal with such situations, and I hope that whatever choice each makes, they are able to cope.

The Rules of Engagement (ROE) for Iraq are very clear:

Personnel MAY:
...
Use deadly force in self-defense and in defending others from death or serious bodily injury...

So my battle buddy will shoot the kid right away, before he kills me. Unfortunate, but deadly force is clearly authorized, and a child can pull a trigger just as well as an adult. Anyone - child or adult, needs to know that this kind of threat will be dealt with appropriately.

There is no way a kid is gonna get that close to me. Maybe one of my dumb troops. But not me. And if he did i would knock his little punk a s s out then shoot him with his own gun and any stupid reporters around so they dont go and report me being a "bad marine".

I should ask myself what is the reason behind this.Did US troops killed his parents?Did US troops raped his sister? No child can hold gun without good reason for that.
What I can do is only to try to give him promise that I will help him if he will not shoot my head !

If possible, put the webbing of my thumb and index finger in front of the hammer, then pull the gun past my body while jacking him in his precious little face of a child.

I'll give him signals to put it down, two or three times and if he doesn't put it down. I would try to take it away from him, if that fails. I would be forced to shoot him to save my own life and my squads life, if they were with me at the time.

But, that would never happen, for several reasons;

One, because I doubt many or any Iraqi children, have guns and know how to use them.

Two, because it's rare for a soldier to be alone in a close-combat situation.

Three, because a kid cannot be that stupid. The average male soldier stands atleast 5"10 the average child at most (anywhere) stands at most 5"0.

Life would flash before my eyes, then I would hope that some sniper takes the kid's head off before he squeezes that trigger. (There is no way in hell that any of you, except the marines, could take down a kid with a gun to your head before he shoots. For all you wannabe Rambos out there, it doesn't happen. Ask the guys who are actually there.)

Pray that he has bad aim or that the gun wasn't loaded.

What would you do?

I think that the answer is pretty obvious.
