The color of the dress really doesnt matter, if you wanted you could mix maybe ivory with the crimson or just crimson. More than likely you will not find a dress in that solid color with out it looking like a prom dress. So you may want to consider having your dress custom made, it will be more expensive, but it will be what you want. You should be able to go to any bridal shop to see if they can give you any ideas or search on line. Hope this helps!

I think it could be really beautiful and unique. I've seen some wedding dresses in red, but they still look very much like wedding dresses, complete with a long train, veil, etc... so they certainly wouldn't look like a prom dress. I think to keep it from looking to prom-y you would have to keep the style of the dress traditional as opposed to some slinkier or more casual styles.
I must admit the idea did cross my mind when I was getting married. I chickened out and decided on a more traditional color though.
If you have the guts to pull it off, I say go for it.
Good luck!

No its not weird at all. Its actually more interesting when the bride picks a dress that she really loves and makes it her own. Its very common now for women not to wear white to their weddings as the role of women is continually changing and some women feel the tradition very outdated and that it doesn't apply for them.
You should pick which ever dress is going to make you happy it is your special day after all. I think a crimson dress with a a long white sash would be a stunning combination.
Go for it!

Red is common in oriental weddings maybe you could find something that way that is amazing and very different from anything you will wear again. There are a lot of red dresses now so just look around. The dress I had could be red but,I liked it in white more. Just wear what you would like try on a lot and have fun with it. Congrats and Good Luck

You should get married in whatever you want to! It is your day!
I had a theme wedding and got married in a red corseted dress with and orange under dress and all of the men wore kilts!
That tradition is not really a big deal anymore... just don't choose a dress that looks like a prom dress.

traditionally speaking, white wasn't considered normal for wedding dresses until queen victoria got married....before that, people just wore the best dress they had, or a newer more elaborate version of their everyday clothing. i think a dark red dress would be really pretty, but they don't make bridal gowns in colour(for some odd reason) look at bridesmaids dresses, since many are simply coloured versions of a simple gown. you can take it to a seamstress/tailor and have any alterations you want done to it. or you can go to the fabric store, look at the patternsand fabric they have, find your favorite and have it made for you. that way, it'll still be like most bridal gowns, only red, and it won't be like a prom dress. good luck!!

Really, you can be married in any color, but frankly, crimson is not really very wedding-like and may indeed look like a prom dress. You can go for a pastel in any shade and that would probably be more appropriate. Red is associated with bordellos and I don't think you want that at your wedding.

If I ever get married again -- cross your fingers -- my gown will be in red or black. I'm thinking Satine in Moulin Rouge!!
But you are right about not wanting it to look like a prom dress. I've seen some places that will make a custom wedding gown with whatever fabric color you'd like. Or maybe get a bridesmaids dress in red. David's Bridal's -- style 81118 is really pretty.
It's your day! I think that you should wear what will make you sparkle! Go for it!

as quickly as I chosen my dress i had to decide for what colour (even though it replaced into off the rack) and my dress replaced into obtainable in 38 diverse colorings! It wasn't costly the two. i don't understand the place you're yet in australia the standard wedding ceremony dress is around $2000 (and upwards) and my dream gown got here in at $800! style new from the shop contemporary season. take a glance around at diverse bridal boutiques and in case you look for a silk dress you could have greater decision in colorings than a number of the different, greater classic fabric
