In order to lose 20 lbs you need to burn a lot of calories. I think a pound of fat is about 3500 calories. 3500 x 20 = 70,000 calories. You would need to decrease your intake of calories by about 400 to 700 a day and increase your exercise to burn about 1200 to 2000 calories a day. Swimming and running are some of the best aerobic, running one mile burns about 130 calories.
Breathing exercises, reduced caloric intake, 3-4 weight training days a week for about 20-35 min, with cardio/aerobic training 30-60 min/ 4-6 days a week. Make sure you stretch before & after, also you need to sleep about 6-9 hours so your body can repair and change. Take a good multivitamin so your body has what is needs to burn the fat and build muscle. Drink enough water, don't over due it. And don't push yourself too hard, if you are serious there are plenty of sites womens health.com, and so on that can further help you on what you need to know. The hardest part will be the first 2-3 weeks, your body will be tired, sore, and you will need to be mentally prepared to accept these small pains for a while as your body begins to change. Massages and relaxing bathes or showers, and stretching will help.

My advice is to eat mostly vegetables, fruit and a little protein every day. 1/2 plate of vegetables, 1/4 meat and 1/4 (pasta, rice or potato). Vegetables can be cooked or raw as in a salad or eat both at the same time.
Try not to use too much oil (even if you are using a healthy oil such as olive, flax seed or linseed.
BIG NO NO> Stay away from all take-away foods, no cakes, no biscuits, no scones, no ice-cream.
Only eat a little bit of low fat dairy, light or low fat milk, cream, cheese or yogurt. 3 serves per day. which includes adding to cereals, tea or coffee.
Eat less starchy foods like pasta (noodles) rice, potatoes, and no white bread. If you want to eat a sandwich must be wholemeal or rye (regular size loaf) and not a roll.
Go for a walk daily (with your dog) or friend and if you want to tone your shape, do light weights or yoga which both give you a good all over workout without harming your bones and muscles for a healthier future.
Eat as much vegetable (only) soup; as much as you want to eat in a day. Cabbage, spinage, capsicum, tomato, carrot, cauliflour, peas or green beans, onions, garlic, celery and salt and pepper to taste. BUT NO added pasta, rice, potato, or bread with these meals.
If you eat this soup, all day everyday for a week and nothing else you can loose 7 to 10 pounds in 7 days. But then you need to start eating what I suggested at the beginning.

I think that the amount of weight a person can loose in a given time period is a function of how much you weigh now ,,,,i.e a very large person would probably be able to shed more pounds in a shorter time then a person of smaller proportions.
If you really want to loose that much and in such a short time, you should check with Jenny Craig or another of the better known diet people,,,,however to my way of thinking be happy with 2-3 pounds a week

I had a chum who lost like 15 pounds in a month by way of going to the gym two times an afternoon on a daily basis purely for a 30 minute run or bikeride. Then, he in basic terms cut back out the undesirable ingredients and not often ate plenty. He lost the burden quickly, in spite of the undeniable fact that it extremely isnt secure and right for you too shed weight that quickly

I prefer both fruits and fresh vegetables better, regardless how they look and taste. You desire a little of both.

In the event it's a fruit they have seeds, otherwise it's a vegetable. And vegetables are usually grown in the ground while fruits are grown in trees.
