i am selfstudying visual C++ programming and my cp is asking me to install msdn which i don't have.

MSDN is Microsoft Developer Network.

MSDN in the context of VC++ refers to tutorials, sample programs and other stuff which will help you with VC++. You have to subscribe to MSDN.

Keep in mind that MSDN is a professional subscription program that costs a LOT of money which you likely won't have.
