....after windows XP? . And can I get a free one from some where?

Vista was in beta and free to download for beta testing, I think that's over. You can always get a free Linux Distro, but get one fast before Microsoft Trademarks it out of existence.

I wrote an email and oferred to write reports on their software and I get software free now.
Try it.
