Isn't it funny how christians use Paul's words in the NT to denegrate gay people -- and they say "it must be followed to the letter" and "it's very clear what he's saying about gays, and it's God's will"...because Paul said it...
But when you point out to them that Paul also said, in 1Corinthians 14:34-35 that women are to shut up in church, because it is shameful for them to speak in church...
...suddenly, all the exclusions and interpretations come out, and all the excuses come forward for why that particular scripture cannot be taken literally...
...(the real truth being that no man wants the nightmare of trying to get all women to shut up in church, but that's a whole different topic).
I wonder at what point it is that christians finally decide they want to stop being two-faced and admit that they cherry-pick the bible -- ignoring some scriptures that they simply don't want to live by, while always picking to follow those ones that justify their hatred for others?

It's only literal when it supports their agenda or purposes.

They can’t. Fundamentalists are caught in a vicious cycle of trying to justify every inconsistency and inaccuracy in the Bible.
Think what a difficult task that is. The Bible itself is a cherry-picked set of myths, fables, and folktales spanning centuries, created by and collected from some remote quasi-historic semi-nomadic Semitic tribes of goat herders who had no scientific knowledge of the physical world and whose only major contributions to mankind and the human race – other the Bible – were circumcision and sex with sheep.
How would like the job of defending that as the literal word of a perfect god?

You're right, as far as you an take it, but there's no comparison between women talking in church and homosexuality.
Women talking is a minor issue.
Homosexuality has always been considered a deadly sin that cries out to heaven for vengeance.
But the real issue today is homosexuals trying to get Christians, including the church itself, to accept homosexual acts as normal and good.
No other particular group of sinners has the chutzpah to even try to attempt such a thing.
And should that ever happen, it will be a sure sign that the end is near.

It is indeed funny...if it weren't so sad.
My two best friends are a married gay couple. One is a surgeon, the other one works at a a daycare center. Both are completely great with kids.
Both love kids, and were dying to be parents. They were chosen to be able to adopt a child. A child from an orphanage in Ethiopia.
Before the adoption was final, in the end they went out of their way to find a loving straight couple to be the parents of this child, and told the adoption board they had found a better couple for the kid.
The only reason they did this, was because they felt it would be better for the kid. Not because they'd make bad parents, but just out of fear of how the Christian majority would judge the kid later in life, at school. So, out of pure love for a kid they never met, they decided to not adopt it.
It makes me sad and disgusted that a society is responsible for this. Our society.

You have discovered a very interesting truth Christens interpret the Bible to suit their own prejudges. Homosexuals just as well give up on that one. They have a choice, they can either form their own Christian Church which many of them have or give up on the Christian religion all together which I recommend as all religion is only fantasy anyway. So I see.
You feel people use the Bible and God as a reason to discriminate against you instead of accepting you for who you are as God commands.
Listen, this is not God hating on you and even though it looks like it its not Gods people hating on you. It's yourself who is hurt inside, I'm trying to imagine how confused you must of felt. If you go to church which i assume you do or did, instead of feeling loved and encouraged or blessed to be apart of God's family you feel like you are not allowed to be close to God, all because the people around you judge you and thats not right. Their are many gay men in the church today, while some keep quiet about it like its a secret afraid of what others might think some aren't quiet about it and are not afraid of redicule but maybe just used to it. And that's not what God wants. God doesn't want for you to feel seperated from Him. God loves you, he created you and even though He does say homosexuality is a sin IT DOESN'T MATTER. We all are sinners and fall short of the glory of God. It's not gonna change how God looks at you. For I tell you the truth God has put a barrier right in the middle of your life and he's giving you two options, let the sin in your life hold you down, close your ears to God's commandments, keep looking in the shadows for light. You've made it this far why not depend on your own judgement screw everyone else, they can ask for forgiveness from you, you don't need their aproval to live and you don't need their judgement to inflict.... Or you can stop breathe for a second and think of a time you were introuble. A time when you had hit rock bottom with no where to go. Remember how helpless and humiliating it felt. And after you've cried out for hours and no one listened, then when your about to let go of it all what feels like an angel catches you can effortlessly gives you the strength and will to fight on. Try to think of love in it's purest form. A form that never quits encouraging, Love that has a purpose. Yes God wants your soul my friend, not for selfish reasons like what Satan has in mind for you but to have and to hold, He wants to call you his own child. God knows your doubts and He alone gives you the strength to overcome the spiritual battles that's happening in your life. I am praying for you right now, not that God will change you, but that you will change for God. And im not talking about changing sexuality. Do you think man will still look like man or women still like women when we all get to heaven or do you believe that God has a plan for you now and forever more. If you ask Him He will clean you and allow you to forgive the very people that can't seem to forgive you. Do as Jesus did, be the bigger man. Forgive those who trespass against you as God has forgiven you. And can you think about how many women nowadays would refuse to go to church if they couldn't speak? It kind of seperates the boys from the men, in a more feminine way i guess.

Yeah, they shouldn't wear a cross around their necks but rather a little toy model of a cherry-picker... much more appropriate.

I BELIEVE THAT VERSE IS ALSO TRUE AND IN OUR CHURCH THE WOMEN DO NOT PREACH, TEACH, LEAD PRAYER OR EVEN SHOUT AMEN.
I TRY TO DO WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES, NOTHING MORE , NOTHING LESS, BUT SOME THING YOU NEED TO DO WHEN YOUR READING THE BIBLE IS LOOK AT WHO IS SPEAKING, WHO IS BEING SPOKEN TO AND THE TIME IT WAS SPOKEN.
THE BIBLE HAS NO ERRORS IF IT IS TRULY STUDIED.
