Start a collection that can be added to each year. maybe a bear, maybe a "add a pearl" necklace, maybe an ongoing picture /scrapbook for each year. In This idea you could take her picture and save the headline in the newspaper, what event are happening at the time of her birthday. Who know, this could be a living part of history for your child. Be creative. You all will enjoy it later.

This sounds strange. A small thing you can collect for your daughter's 1st birthday? Most things today that would be termed momentos and remembrances are going to cost. What do you want them to brink, a prize out of a Cracker Jack box? Rhetorical. Surely if you are not sure what you want, we cannot help you. The idea is to bring SOMETHING FOR YOUR DAUGHTER that she can play with or use NOW, not something you give her 20 years down the road and say, "Here, this is from your first birthday. Everyone brought a collector spoon for you." She'll love that! NOT!
