It does'nt make sense, and here's why, it would be cheaper, and less of a hassel to just buy a Pony with a 4.6 Mod in it, they are everywhere, I chose to go with the 5.o because, the after market support is so HUGE ! I have an extra 5.0 on a stand, and built a 347 stroker motor with a 9# s/c and a 150# shot of NOX, I have a friend who is going nuts because I have more choices with the 5.0, than he has with the 4.6

its not worth your time. while im not a particularly huge mustang fan, its just silly to do a multiple thousand dollar swap when just getting a GT would be much much much cheaper. The price differential would be small, and would come with the upgraded frame, suspention, and other goodies. The swap would just become a money pit with no real up side, not to mention it would destroy the value of the car.

buy a GT and with the money you save, mod it.

or better yet buy a real sports car, not a mustang with its archaeic suspention and pathetic moulded plastic interior.

So. California here,<
But if you want to do this work or have it done, I would want to shop/look at "late model wreking yards" they have "totaled" vehicles alot with near perfect engines, i had this done for my 95 Lincoln TownCar-4.6L V8, i needed a better engine than the one it had, i shoped these yards and found one off the same year and had the dealership transfer it, never had any trouble at all.
Try your local yellow pages and ask ones you find if they can recommend another, an so on...

By the way the TOTAL COST of this work done "for me" was aprox $2,600
Best wishes...

Just buy a GT. The 4.6L modular is a cumbersome engine and the amount of work involved just isn't worth it.

Sell it, buy a GT, and enjoy the free time you will have not trying to hunt down misc parts.
