The Navy offers a different range of jobs because it's a technically based organization. Army uses a lot of infantry and infantry support roles. In the military your range of occupations depends on your ASVAB score. A score in the 90s gives you whatever you want. Lower than that you have a lower range of jobs. But both offer a good amount of technical jobs. Their respective websites list the occupations offered.
Post-military you can use the same benefits offered through the VA or other funds they set up.
When talking to a recruiter, get the school/training you want put down in writing otherwise you DONT get it. Things not in your contract you just plain don't get. That's the big "I got screwed by my recruiter" discussion you hear plenty of.
Sign up for college or other educational money you can get. I hope that helps.
(I'm ex-military)
Either way to stay away from bullets join the Navy. To hike around more join the Army.

In the Army you learn how to stop bullets with your face. Very educational. If you're a bright person, join the navy. The Navy seems to be more full of professionals, where the Army is mainly hard luck cases and crusaders.

Need to define what you mean by "educational benefits". If you're talking about G.I. Bill benefits, etc.--they're the same. BUT if you're talking about the training you'll get while you're actually IN the service, the Navy will offer a MUCH wider choice of fields to pick from. The Navy sent our son to school for TWO years before they ever sent him to the fleet.

All military services offer the same educational benefits. It's just that some recruiters are 'better' and 'more creative' at their jobs that others. Remember, their job started as the 'press gang', who used to kidnap drunks from seaport bars and haul them off to a naval vessel for impressment into navel service. Best of luck.

In the Army you will be sent in to infantry.... In the Navy you will have plenty of time to read while sitting on a Giant metal boat.
