I drink 6-8 and I dont like drinking that many, when I try to cut back I get bad headaches. I went down to 2-3 in a day and that worked until I got mad one day and then it went right back up. Its just like smoking (I dont) but its a nasty addiction and its horriable and costly. I dont like coffee or anything else like that, hot choclate is as far as I would push it. I havent taken pills for headaches though. How do the caffeene pills work? anyone tried them or are they just as addicting? how spendy are they as well?

yea, dont drink as much a day haha. maybe drink like 2 or 3 cups of coffee a day instead. Or better yet. go to jamba juice and drink a fruit smooties with energy boost with like 9 or 10 cans of pop a day.
your body might not be used to the smooties so you might be going to the bathroom more than often. In time the fruits will clean out all the toxin in your body. But that will take time but at least u wont have to fight with your caffine. I'm guessing maybe a month or two to see you cutting back by half the pop u usually drink. Dont try to rush anything you'll only kill youself.

Ugh, I hear you. I've got the same problem, and whenever I try to cut back, I get headaches, nausea, and all sorts of other unpleasantness. While I don't know how to help you quit, I will tell you that if you do give it up, don't try to use caffeine periodically if you think you need it. It's insanely easy to be back up to twelve cans a day, just because you had a cup of coffee one morning when you were really, really tired.
Good luck.

I feel so sorry for you. My doctor actually diagnosed me as having a caffeine addiction years ago. I've tried to not drink it anymore, and I get really frustrated. You want to rip someones head off and you're angry all the time. You have headaches and you can't sleep. Your body twitches just like you're going through with drawls. Good Luck, I couldn't do it. My husband was so tired of me being that way, he was the first to run to the store and get me some caffeine.

Take it slow. Cut back one can a week or substitute one can a week with pop w/o caffeine. Take Aleve (24hour) 1x/day to prevent the headaches. If you have been taking prescription pain killers to help, you may have been getting 'rebound' headaches from them. Taking Aleve short-term is no worse than all the caffeine you have been intaking, so do not worry about having to be 'on' something.

I experienced those same headaches when I drank coffee for a few weeks.
When I first began drinking the coffee I had some headaches then they went away. When I decided I didn't want to be drinking coffee daily and stopped drinking it the headaches returned.
The headaches were from my body saying "this stuff is not healthy or natural to this body" but then I got used to caffeine. Then when I stopped drinking it weeks later and the headaches returned as a withdrawal symptom of body having gotten used to that 'ill' product in my body but had become 'addicted' to it.
My advice...drink lots of water to help your body flush out our system, you are going to have to put up with the headaches...take some aspirin in the meantime.
And...take those headaches as a sign from your body that the caffeine is not good stuff in you.
Your body is clearly speaking to you . . . listen to it and try to stay away from the caffeine.
How 'bout switching to a favorite juice ? I drink cranberry, apple or grapefruit juice like crazy. It does have some sugar products in it...yet on the big picture and compared to other things I might consume it's not bad.

Once the person has triumphed over their anxiety problem, they develop an inner strength that the average person never gets to develop.
You see, no matter how many brave things you do in the world, if you have not been challenged on an inner level, then you miss out on the opportunity to develop real inner strength.
That is the hidden opportunity anxiety presents to you. To become a bigger person than you already are. That is what you take from the challenge of anxiety.
It does not matter if you have not reached that point yet. The journey is unique to everyone so do not judge your progress against others.

Don't quit cold turkey. But try to sub your pop for some other caffeine sorce like tea or something not as bad for your stomach and then just kinda ween yourself off, maybe drink one or two less a day for a week or two and see how you do. But pop a few ibuprofen pills if you do get a headache.

cut back to like 8 a day, then like 6 a day, then like 5 a day and so on. caffine is a drug, and like other drugs it is addictive. you have to come off them slowly, same with cigerttes, you have to cut back graduly. and dont take asprin.
also u may want to go see a dr, he may be able to give you a med that can help.

Get enough sleep and reduce the caffeine intake over a few days. Cold turkey = headaches.
