On windows XP how can I restart the computer in normal mode if it keeps freezing before safe mode is up? What happened was I put the computer in safe mode to run a virus scan but safe mode isn't loading because the system locks up so I just want to restart in normal mode and try scanning there first.

If you can't get to SAFE MODE you won't be able to get into NORMAL MODE.

The whole idea of SAFE MODE is that is loads less than normal so that you can fix problems with your normal system

Well, borrow a xp os cd from some one and wipe out and re-install it. Yes it would be a fake then. But right now you can keep this up and running or wait, perhaps you can enter the product key from behind your laptop. Not sure though it would accept. Let us know the result if you chose to go this way...

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
