I don't believe in hitting so I found this to be an alternative. I feel kinda bad because they get so exhausted and I don't know if I'm overworking the little tykes. They are usually more compliant. Is this too much for little kids?

More than likely it is and I'm not really sure if that's appropriate punishment. I don't believe in hitting either, that's why they get restricted from things they like or get time out (depending on the age). They say not to hit because that causes aggression, wouldn't you think martial arts training would cause it too? Not that I don't agree with the training, in today's world it's a good idea but I'd think there should be a time set aside for training and it should have nothing to do with punishment.

just be careful that they do not begin to associate the anger from punishment with attacking a target. i'd recommend trying to have your children do something a little less aggressive, such as yoga.

i wouldn't worry about overworking them. kids are extremely resilient and bounce back 10 times faster and have more energy than we as adults can even imagine.

Hitting is no more the IN thing nowadays, especially with children. They will go to sleep and wakes up tomorrow forgetting about the hitting..

This is a new idea to me, which I am considering using on my son. It will directly and indirectly make him using up the 'excess' energy...
