NO, it causes serious damage and can even can kill them (same with raisins, but they do not have to eat as many raisins to reach the same toxic levels as grapes). It causes severe and permanent damage to the kidneys and can push the dog into renal (kidney) failure, which does kill them. The compound in them has not be identified yet, but their is something in grapes and raisins that causes a toxicity.

In extremely small amounts it may not hurt them, but why would you chance it? There has not been enough research done yet to know exactly how much will kill them, but it is not very much. A lab came into the vet clinic that I work at that had eaten less than a pound of grapes, he was okay the first 12 hours but his kidneys shut down by the next day and he was put to sleep to end his suffering. The really sad part was that it was only a 9 month old puppy, and he really didn't eat much compared to his weight.

Listen to what the other people said about grapes (and raisins, onions, and of course chocolate). Macadamia nuts, too.

We used to feed our dog grapes all the time until we found out they were potentially toxic... good thing nothing bad happened!

No, I actually read in Reader's Digest that it can cause kidney failure in dogs if they eat raisins or grapes. It builds up a toxic acid in their kidneys.

Listen to ash.
Although many substances may not be good for a dog, it's unlikely in the extreme for a dog to consume a toxic amount of fruits such as grapes before they regurgitate(throw up) and purge their system. Since I doubt you're feeding your dog a vineyard, don't sweat it, it'll let you know when it throws up if you let it have too many...

Dogs can eat any fruits and vegetables they want as long as the fruits and veggies dont have any pits or anything. They are actually very healthy for them jsut like humans. AND as long as the fruits and veggies don't consist of more than half their regular diet!
