I got fat because I had a disgusting eating disorder for 11 years because I felt like I had to be super skinny in order to please narrow minded people like you, got really sick, ruined my metabolism, recovered, got pregnant, gained 80 lbs due to my pregnancy and non-existent metabolism and regardless of how you or anyone else labels me, I'm happier than I EVER was in a size 5.

I think that every fat person has a diferent reason for being obese and sometimes its because when they were little, their parents didnt teach them self control or encourage excercising and healthy eating, and thus they grew up with bad habbits difficult to let go of. Others just are fat because they have uncooperative metabolisms. Others are just lazy or a combination of everything I said. However, I dont believe it when there are women that say they are happy being fat and this and that and flaunt their rolls on that show Maury or something like that. I think they really do want to loose weight, because nobody wants to be fat.

You're obviously in high school, so let me enlighten you. As you age, your body tends to retain more fat. In fact, early in your twenties your body will go through a second major physical change that, for women anyway, involves larger hips, fuller thighs, etc. (This will happen whether or not you gain additional fat from overeating.)
Also, college food sucks. If you go, you will gain weight unless you starve yourself. It is far more difficult to be active in college than in high school, especially if you are one of the majority that has to work in addition to furthering your education. Also, colleges sell the unhealthy food cheap, and the healthy food for absolutely obscene amounts of money.

no one allows themselves to get fat dear. some may have trauma, some may have a damaged endorcine system, some may have to be on medications like steroids that make you gain weight, antirejection drugs make you gain weight as well as other medications like antidepressants, birth control pills, menopausal women, pregnancy, diseases like diabetes, the medication to take it. some are born with health issues that prevent them from losing weight. lung diseases or heart diseased patients sometimes are not allowed to do much exersize.genetics sometimes play a role as well.
a slight portion of people can blame diet. truth is, most who are overweight have a higher body metabolism that that of skinny folks. last but not least, some women and men find that extra weight is sexy. weight gain and being fat can be a disease itself, just like anorexic people. some have liver or kidney disease that makes the appear fat, when all it is, is water weight due to ascites. there are many REASONS and very few purposely fat people.
you view it as disgusting that is fine, however, most have valid reasons for not losing weight.

There are so many reasons for obesity that have NOTHING to do with willpower.
There are genetic, mental, physical, environmental, etc..... reasons.
I'm assuming you're a teen boy that hasn't been taught that people come in different sizes, shapes and colors. If we were all the same, this place would be BORING! ; )
Try exercising some tolerance to your fellow human being. (Who knows what event could happen in your life to turn you obese... Heaven Forbid!!)

Often it has to do with where people live and how much education they have. For instance, In the South and the Midwest, there are a lot more overweight people. Although their food tastes great, they eat too much and eat the wrong food. Moreover, working class folks are usually fatter than college educated folks. Finally, people in colder climates are less likely to really look at their bodies. In warm climates, one has to wear shorts and less clothing, so one is more likely to rethink his/her diet and lifestyle.

You are probley thin right? Well any way, i guess for someone that isn't over weight it is difficult to understand but it seems to "creep" up on ya. Some people have emotional issues and use food as a crutch. People use food for many different reasons. Even some are addicted to it.

I've never been overweight or obese.
I love exercise and nutrition
but can see how over the yrs. some people ignore their health and it can kinda snowball after awhile.
I imagine it must feel overwhelming for them to get started on losing weight w/out help. It's very unhealthy...luckily there's self-help groups out there 4 'em

I had kids...really though, my hubby is tall and has a fast metabolizium...me, I am short and have a slow one. I am sure that at a size 16 or a size large I can actually considered obese by my doctor though.Anyway I am just the way I am supposed to be.
