whey and egg white proteins are fast acting because they contain the highest amounts of BCAA's. when consumed amino acids start to enter the bloodstream in about 15-20 minutes. these proteins provide a rapid increase in blood concentration levels which promote anabolism in muscle cells. they hit the bloodstream fast and blood concentration levels of amino acids rise and fall quickly in about an 1.5 hours.

caesin and milk isolates are slower acting as they contain lower amounts of BCAA's and longer chained protein structures. these proteins provide a slower release of amino acids into the bloodstream. there is still an increase in anabolism and they also provide a greater anti-catabolic effect as blood concentration levels of amino acids stay elevated for almost 3 hours.

* you want to use a blended protein whenever possible. most brands will have a combination of caesin, egg white protein and whey protein.

* taking a small serving of protein before training will help to reduce the catabolic effects of high intensity exercise. taking another serving after training will decrease recover time from training and increase anabolic activity.

Slow uptake protein would be something that takes a while to digest and release, so that you're getting a more steady dose of protein throughout the day or night. As a supplement, the most common type is called casein and you can purchase that at most supplement shops. It's recommended to take it before going to bed, since most of your muscle recovery and healing occurs at rest, and in the morning. Of course, a fast uptake protein like whey is best as a meal replacement throughout the day, and before and after a workout.

If you're only using a home gym like you described, you may be limited on what you can do. Of course, for biceps, curls of various sorts are what you do, but you can also hit them when doing reverse-grip pullups or upright rows.. For pecs, any sort of front pushing exercise, such as bench press or pushups, is how you exercise those. Flies are also great for isolating the pecs. If you can, I'd suggest getting some dumbells at least to add to what you can do with your home gym.

Depending on your goals, there's no real substitute for a decent gym.

I suggest you find a personal trainer and a nutritionist who have their certifications and can help you do exactly what you want the HEALTHY way. It's hard to explain online how your body works and how what you take affects the way each body system works.

he metabolic powers specific foods have to make your physique burn much more body fat.” It is a way of rating foods, based on “how many calories your body is going to burn just breaking down the nutrients each time you consume a specific food.”
Therefore, you are not alone in this battle.
