if a leash doesnt work there is another choice u can use a different type of collar a chain collar i show my dog in obediance and it may sound mean on the dogs part but my dog loves winning when she knows she did the right thing your dog might want to get chain collar not one that pokes them but a choke collar it wont kill them unless u pull it really really tight which i have pulled my golden retriever alot and nothing has ever happned she or he will cough but thats just because they are not used to it but they will eventually get use to it and when they do u will thank me

Its very hard. Labs just love people. A leash. You can try obedience training at like Petco, or Petsmart.

try this take him on a walk and keep treats in small pieces in your pocket, do leave a leash on him. first start walking him with the leash and keep him close to you and tell him to heal, you may have to start off rapping the leash around your hand, make sure hes at you side and each time he pulls pull him back and say heal, when he stops pulling treat him, and say good dog, keep walking and keep telling him to heel don't let him pull you, and make sure to tell him heel everytime you have to pull him back, make it so he is walking side by side you , it should help and when you get the hang of that take you sould be able to let the leash loose and have him walk by you side or when you say heel he should come back to your side. now once you get the hang of that he should heel even if hes not on the leash. you get the point.
but make sure to treat him when he is doing a good job, it helps when you first start out, and I use to break treats in small pieces so that way I wasn't giving my dog to many.

Teach him to stay, and use a leash. Also teach him to listen to words that tell him not to do something. I find using "uh uh" instead of "no" works better. I use it with my dog and no matter what the situation she stops what she was about to do.

A leash is the obvious solution , no dog should behave like that no matter how friendly.

Find a good obedience class so that you and your dog can learn basic training, including the recall.
