Yes I have it and so do you, it's call Bi-Polar Disorder. A series of highs and lows or mania and depression. The day after my mother died I spent $30,000. You need to get counseling and to see a Dr who can prescribe an anti-depressant for you so your emotional swings are not as great and you won't spend that kind of money again. You'll also feel a lot better on a more even keel. Good luck.

I infrequently suffer from the down side of bi-polar, and am a rare oddity for my doctor who works primarily with bi-polar disorder patients. She rarely sees patients that stay hypomanic and don't cycle at least once a year. I have been seeing her now for almost three years, and have just started to cycle in the past month, and am already finished going through a low. It was over and done with for me in a matter of three weeks. Of course when I am manic I apparently do the same things as you do. I have gotten myself into so much credit card debt, that I see no light at the end of that tunnel right now. For a while there, I was in constant trouble with the law as well, because apparently I was also writing bad checks and was unaware that they weren't good, because I never even bothered to balance the check book.
Currently I have gotten back to the hypomanic stage, which like I said, is where I pretty much stay. I am a 24 year old female, and also like I said, it is an oddity for my doc. Usually, like you, if I do have a low, it does start in the winter time, or right around the holidays, and she tells me that most people do get depressed around winter time whether or not they are bi-polar, because of the cold and the lack of sunlight and that sort of thing. You know, all that doctor jargon they throw out at you, ha ha. They call it seasonal depression for the so called "normal" people, and they call it cycleing for bi-polars. Hope you start feeling better soon, and things will start looking up for you. Good luck, I know it's hard sometimes.

Yes, I had a similar experience but i put myself in 31,000 dollars in debt in about a year and a half. After several ups and downs since I was 16 years old I was finally diagnosed as bipolar, after having a drug induced psychosis and becoming homicidal. It only took 14 years to get help. If you are concerned there are several places on the web to take a quick and easy test that you can latter talk to a health care provider about. Just look under bipolar.

It sounds like you are bipolar. It is VERY important that you do not take an antidepressant alone when you have this disease. It will relieve the depression part but will also send you into a very manic state, which I see you have already experienced and know is not great. See a doctor that specializes in this and get the appropriate medication. They can be very effective! Good luck!
