Neither! If you are serious about your photography then never use a third party lens that produces a range from 28mm to 300mm! All you get is poor colour reproduction, colour fringing (especially on Nikon bodies as they do not handle third party glass well!), loads of barrelling and distortion! Also the slooooowwww aperture is a real drawback! Try a 2.8 lens and you'll never look back!

I agree with the previous answer. I have the Tamron 28-300 on one of my Canon A2Es, and I get great results. On my other A2E that I use for back-up, I have the Tamron 28-200, it is also a great lens. I like the 28-300 more, but when I bought my first A2E, the 300 wasn't out yet. I had the Sigma 170-500 zoom for a while, but never really liked it, so I sold it. You can reach me at picturedude53@yahoo.com if you have any questions. Good luck.

Go with the Tamron lens. I've had both Sigma and Tamron lenses and I'd chose Tamron all the time over sigma.
